Nordic 4 is a natural development of previous youth classes such as Formula Ford, Formula Opel/Lotus, etc., but with much higher safety standards and stricter technical regulations. Both of these factors contribute to making Nordic 4 a cheaper and much safer youth class.

Nordic 4 is based on the Formula 4 concept developed by the International Automobile Federation (FIA), specifically for the critical transition between karting and motor racing, and the path onwards via Formula 3, Formula 2 and ultimately Formula 1.

The overall goal of the class is to help the next generation of Danish talents further their careers.
