Olson and Skaar ready for Nordic 4 with Aquila Formula Nova

Richard Olson and Leonél Skaar will be the first two Swedish drivers on the grid in the new Aquila Formula Nova when the 2026 Nordic 4 season gets underway.

The two Swedish talents have made the step up to Nordic 4 and are establishing a joint team, S Motorsport, with the aim of racing a full season in the Nordic championship. The two drivers first met in the 2024 season when they both competed in the Aquila Formula 1000 Championship in Sweden, and now they are taking the next step in their careers.

“I’m looking forward to racing Nordic 4 in the new Aquila Formula Nova. It’s a class with a lot of potential, not least with the new car, and I’m looking forward to being involved from the start with Leonél. It will be good to have him as a teammate because he is really fast and I think we can learn a lot from each other”, says Richard Olson, who will be joined by Leonél Skaar:

“After two seasons in Aquila Formula 1000 I feel ready for the next step and the Nordic 4 fits perfectly into my plan. The new car makes it possible to make the leap on a reasonable budget and I think the concept is really exciting. I’m looking forward to being involved from the start in the next chapter of the class,” says Leonél Skaar.

Olson, Skaar and S Motorsport can look forward to welcoming the two Aquila Formula Nova racers, which with a weight of approximately 350 kilos and a solid Yamaha MT09 engine will provide plenty of speed on the track. With a sequential gearbox and adjustable shock absorbers, functioning wings and HALO driver protection, it’s a modern formula car that is the future foundation for developing young racing drivers.

The Nordic 4 will return to tracks in Denmark and Sweden in 2026, where drivers aged 14 and up can take the next step in their motorsport career in a solid, safe and modern formula car. One of the great advantages of the Aquila Formula Nova is that it has been created with a focus on making a contemporary racing car at a manageable price.
